Christine Caria is a Survivor of the Route 91 Las Vegas shooting. Shortly after the tragedy occurred, Christine recognized the complete lack of resources to address the needs of so many victims all at once. She helped to organize a group called Victim’s First. Almost immediately after the formation of Victim’s First, Christine relentlessly pursued financial support from Lisa Fine and her team at Route91Strong to help survivors of the Las Vegas shooting. This “Survivor helping Survivor” union began between Victim’s First and Route91Strong.org as their missions to help survivors and their families directly, was not only divinely inspired, but one in the same. Christine is overjoyed to be part of this team!
Christine is now the President of the Las Vegas Chapter of Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence. In December 2017, Christine traveled to Washington, DC with two other survivors to testify on the Senate floor for the elimination of bump stocks. She met with a large contingency of legislators and gained their support in creating a National Response to Aid Victims of Mass Shootings, similar to the aid given after 9/11. She is interviewed regularly on radio, television and print such as NPR, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, LA Times, Las Vegas Review Journal, NY Times, Washington Post, etc. She was a featured speaker at the Women’s March anniversary: Power to the Polls 2018.
There has never been a time that Christine has not been driven to give back to help those less fortunate, it’s in her DNA. Christine has a degree in social work and was employed in Child Welfare for the better part of a decade in Reno, NV. She has used her experience in social work for her current collaboration with the Victim’s Resiliency Center and the Victim of Crime (VOC) in Las Vegas to create a plan of action to help the survivors of the Las Vegas shooting and their families. Christine strongly believes in taking action now to help these people in dire need of emotional relief and financial aid.
While pursuing her other passion, she has worked in and around the fashion industry since the age of fourteen. Most recently, she owned and operated an upscale women’s boutique in Sausalito, CA. After some deliberation, she and her husband, Steve decided that it would be best for themselves and their son, Hutton, to move to Las Vegas to be closer to their in-laws and spend more quality time together raising their son. The family attends The Crossing Church every Sunday and strongly supports its motto “Love God, Love People, Serve Others”.
Jennifer Holub is a survivor of the Route 91 Harvest Festival. Jennifer was in attendance for her second time and with a group of 20+ friends. Jennifer and her tribe were fortunate to escape with minor injuries and she has since dedicated herself to those less fortunate.
Jennifer is a small business owner, has a degree in Business Management, and a degree in Human Resource Management. Jennifer loves music, traveling, children, healthy living, her family and friends, and her 2 dogs and 2 cats. Jennifer has been an advocate since she could speak and is forever striving to “spread the love.” Since grade school, Jennifer has lived by Margaret Mead’s quote, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Jennifer is thrilled to be a board member and looks forward to the time she gets to spend giving back with the Route91Strong team of badasses!
